Get involved: 15 things you can do to help

1. Make a donation (money, time, food, clothing, furniture, household goods).

2. Volunteer at our store sorting through donations.

3. Join one of WHEAT’s Volunteer Fundraising Committees.

4. Hire interns and students who are participating in job training programs.

5. Attend WHEAT fundraising events and bring a friend.

6. Organize a fundraising event (a bake sale, a car wash, a concert, etc.).

7. Call or write to your public officials and/or the media about issues that affect low-income populations.

8. Help with renovations to WHEAT’s facility.

9. Host a workshop for the Youth Development Program or of interest to our low-income population. Share your special expertise with residents (financial planning, health & fitness, resume writing, nutrition, etc.).

10. Help organize collections for our Thanksgiving and Holiday baskets for residents and/or their children.

11. Help us wrap gifts at holiday time or create our annual Holiday baskets.

12. Host a holiday party at which friends and colleagues bring gifts, canned goods or donations for WHEAT.

13. Give holiday cards that provide gifts that make a difference: let your loved ones know that you have made a donation to WHEAT in their honor.

14. Host a drive:

  • Clothing drive
  • Food Items (non-perishables)
  • House Wares
  • Day Care/Baby Items
  • Personal Hygiene Items
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Bedding
  • School Supplies
  • Holiday Items (Adopt a Child, Giving Tree)

15. Help us identify and procure grant funding

**Depending on truck availability and storage - please contact us before beginning your project so that we can let you know what we need most. We’re also always looking for help in furniture pickups and deliveries – one Thursday afternoon a month!
